Applique Banner

My first time trying out some applique.

I used some little Christmas bauble designs and appliqued them by hand onto some lace coasters. At first I wasn't really sure how to finish them off.  I didn't want to use them as coasters, so instead I came up with the idea of a banner to display at Christmas.  I joined them with some red ribbon, added a piece of ricrac as a hanger at the top and a jingle bell down the bottom.  A couple of red beads added to each coaster piece for a bit more colour.  Quite a fun little project.

If there are any Western Australian quilters or stitch fanatics out there reading my blog that may be interested in some get together's with other quilting/stitching buddies from around WA, then please head on over to Anthea's blog and put your name down.  This is a way for us West Aussies, who happen to live in the most isolated City in the world, to join each other on little adventure days to Quilt/Craft shows, retreats or just for a coffee every now and then so we can chat about our favourite pastime and go shopping for more stash.  Sounds like soo much fun and I'm soo excited that Anthea has come up with the idea.  So please go and visit.

A Little Something...

I put together with some scrap squares and some checkered fabric in lilac and blue for the border.  I created this little quilt as I really wanted to make one for Blankets of Love.  I tried to make it as neutral colour wise as possible and because I am still learning I wanted it to be simple but sweet.
I am yet to contact Cheryll to see if she will accept it for her Blankets of Love collection as I know she is off on a retreat this weekend.  I'm hoping it fits the bill and she will be happy to take it.  I know that they need different sizes for the blankets and this one comes in at around 19 inches.

I hope you all like it.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting
