Christmas 2009

WOW, didn't that just go super fast! I cant believe how quick Christmas goes as you get older, it was on us before we knew it and now its already gone. BooHoo.  I LOVE Christmas time.
This year I was quite lucky as Santa bought us a new camera (even though we did get it a little earlier), I also received two lovely summer nighties, body lotion and face cream, a cup for work and my surprise was a new craft glue gun to use for my cross stitch finishes.  Woo Hoo I love it, its a cordless Black and Decker one.

Here is a picture of our tree with all the presents underneath.

First up I wanted to show you a photo of my boy, not my son, my four legged buddy "Jed".  Santa left him a gift in his stocking and he loved trying to get it open.  I cant belive my boy will be 11 next year, you can see him greying around the mouth area but other than that you wouldn't think he was getting on.

And finally a photo of my other boy, yes this time my son, with his stash for Christmas.  He also received a paddle pool but that was obviously outside and not part of the photo.  Seeing as its quite warm over Christmas and up until March in the new year its nice for the kids to have some kind of water fun in the backyard.

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and please take care on the roads during this holiday break.
Until next time, happy stitching

Ornie's

Here are some ornie's for all to see.  First up is an ornie I made for my Mum for her Christmas tree this year.  Its "Sing Noel" by Primrose Needleworks.  The reason I chose this is because I liked the colour combination of green, pink and white, I also had matching green beads which I used around the outside.

This next ornie is one I have received from Julianne in the YLPS round 4 exchange.  I just love this little guy, and Julianne put a pocket in the back which she stashed some candy canes and chocolate in.  Of course they didn't last long with my son around.  A lovely ornie that will have a special place on my tree each year.  Thanks Julianne!

Until next time, happy stitching and Merry Christmas everyone.

YAY! Its Arrived.

Finally my parcel has arrived at Angela's house.  I'm just super pleased its made it in time for Christmas.
With our personal exchanges at Christmas we always make each other an ornie for our trees.  This year I stitched a Casey Buonaugurio design "Let It Snow" from the JCS 2008 ornie special on light blue evenweave using dmc.

My surprise piece for Angela this year was a journal like the one I made for Carol Anna.  I found these little journals at my local craft store and had a vision for the finishing.  I was tickled pink with the end result, and I might just have to go and buy some more.  The design is a Heart In Hand chart called "Tall Snowman" (Angela loves snowmen!) stitched on a cream linen using dmc.

In Angela's parcel I included some fabric, floss, stickers, mesh bag with charms, a cute snowman chart and a felt reindeer bag.

Once again its been a fabulous year of friendship for us Angela that I truly cherish, here's to another fabulous year ahead!
Until next time, happy stitching

Thank You Gaby! & Gift for Roberta

Today I received my christmas parcel from Gaby, and what a delightful parcel it is!  This is for a personal exchange that a group of friends joined in on for Christmas.

Gaby stitched a biscornu for me from last years JCS christmas issue. And I am pleased to say that this is the first biscornu I have received in an exchange, how lucky am I to receive such a gorgeous one.

In my parcel Gaby sent me some cute ornie's to hang on my tree, some soap made by Gaby's friend, a scented sachet, four "ever soo cute" hedgehog felt ornie's (you know me well Gaby) and a book of Christmas motifs.

Thank you for such a lovely exchange Gaby, I love everything you sent. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas too.

For this same personal exchange I had to send to Roberta, here is what I sent in her parcel.

I stitched a Plum Pudding Needlearts chart as Roberta likes sheep and I thought this one was quite appropriate, he was finished off as a pinkeep.  I also stitched Roberta a biscornu, this design was a freebie I have had in my stash for a while.

Poor Angela is still waiting on her gift to arrive, so no photos as yet.  Hurry up postman!!!
Until next time, happy stitching.

Xmas Swap!

I joined SWAP with Nina's group for the christmas round this year and the person I had to stitch for was Carol Anna in Hungary.  I read that Carol Anna liked Bent Creek designs and traditional christmas things.  So I made the following for her.

Waxing Moon Designs "Merry Christmas" reindeer, made into a pinkeep which I found perfect backing fabric for.  Stitched on white linen with red dmc.

Bent Creek's "Red Winged Blackbird", I found a small journal that I covered in fabric and placed the design on the front, the pages inside are blank so she can use the journal for anything she likes.  Stitched on cream linen using dmc.

What a fun swap this was and Carol Anna was soo appreciative of all that I sent her, I received such a lovely email of thanks.  I was also super surprised at how quick she received the parcel, 7 days from Australia to Hungary.
I will be back shortly as I have heard today that another of my exchanges have arrived.
Until next time, happy stitching

It's Starting to Look Alot Like Christmas...

YAY!!! It sure was Christmas for me when I received my parcel from Angela.  Each year we always send each other a parcel, and each year its soo exciting, as soon as we post them out we let each other know and then its this agonising wait to see how long the postal service takes to get it to us.
Angela gifted me with a gorgeous CCN design flatfold and it is sitting pride of place on the cabinet next to my christmas tree.  I absolutely love it to death!!  And my ornie this year is a lovely LHN design and just as fabulous.

The extra ornie's in my parcel are also already hanging on my tree.

Thank you Angela, dear friend, its always such a delight to receive a stitched gift from you.

The agonising wait is still going on for poor Angela, as my parcel hasn't reached her yet.  Hopefully it will arrive soon.
Happy stitching everyone.

YLPS Round 4

Leeanne has received the Round 4 piece I sent out.  The design is from Book 48 "A Christmas Visit" and I stitched him on a rose pink linen using DMC.
A cute and quick stitch up that I really enjoyed, these little Prairie Schooler designs are such a joy to complete and finish up.

I know I havent been around much, but I have been stitching like crazy getting all my christmas parcels ready for mail out.  They are now all complete and ready to post tomorrow.  Unfortunately though, this means I wont have anything to show until they start arriving at their new homes.  So keep popping by as hopefully they wont take too long.

Until next time, happy stitching

Mary Jo Double Up!

Strange heading?  Well it basically means that I was given Mary Jo as my partner for two latest exchanges.  The first one being the Lizzie Kate Exchange Round 2 and the other being the LHN Ornie Exchange.  Here is what I sent.

Lizzie Kate "Bless Our Home" stitched on a soft lilac linen using DMC threads and finished as a pinkeep.

LHN Ornie was an element taken from the "Snowflakes" chart and stitched on ice blue evenweave using DMC threads and finished as a hanging ornie.
I was pleased that Mary Jo liked both items.

I have been madly finishing up some stitching recently, I have about another 4 items to finish up and be sent for various exchanges and xmas parcels.  The weekend just gone I managed to finish 3 gifts and make up some parcels.  Stitching wise I only have 2 other pieces to do now before Christmas, so I'm pleased to say that I won't be rushing around last minute to get things in the mail, YAY!
Now off to check out some xmas designs.  Until next time, happy stitching dear friends.

LHN Exchange from Cecile

I just had to share with you all this beautiful exchange piece I received from Cecile for Round 2 of the LHN exchange.  The design is the one that Diane made up for the benefit piece for Unicef and Cecile finished it into a lovely tote bag.  She also included a cut of fabric for me and some christmas charms.  Thank you soo much Cecile, I shall treasure it always.

Thank you for all your lovely comments about my new job.  My week went really well and it was really busy.  It has been rather exciting soo far and hopefully will turn out to be the type of job I have wanted to do in a long time, so far so good!
I also managed to buy myself a new camera today, yay, I feel soo independant now, not having to borrow one all the time, its fabulous!!
Until next time, happy stitching.

ASOE Fall Ornie

I have received my fall ornie from Tracy. She stitched Brightneedle Season Petites and finished it into a hanging ornie. I love it Tracy, thank you. Please excuse the picture, I dont have a camera at the moment and have had to scan it.

Here is the ornie that I sent to Tracy.  It is a freebie design called "Swirly Acorn" and I made a small hanging fob and attached a leaf charm to the back.

Sorry for the lack of posts and also commenting on others blogs, the reason being is ...  I have started a new job this week and life has been pretty hectic.  I cant believe how fast the days have been going, I've been so busy getting used to everything that time just flies by.  I am really enjoying myself though, and of course when I can relax in the evening I still have my trusty stitching to take my mind away from daily things. hehe
Speaking of stitching, I have been doing lots but I cant show anything for awhile, as they are for exchanges or christmas gifts, but I am nearly finished the stitching to be done by christmas and can probably catch up on some wips soon.
Until next time, happy stitching

Halloween Exchange from Blyn

WOW, I have just received the most amazing Halloween package from Blyn for the HOE Halloween exchange.
It was all placed inside a black tote bag, 2 cuts of Halloweeny fabric, a cute primitive pumpkin on a cinnamon stick, 4 charts, wooden coaster, a roll of edged linen & specialty threads. Now for the stitched finishes... I was lucky to receive two stitched items from Blyn, one is a rather cute spooky pattern finished into the shape of a coffin and the second finish is a floss tag (my first one). I absolutely love them both Blyn, they are beautifully finished and I will definately put the extras you included to good use. Thank you, thank you.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my Harvest finish on the previous post, its great to receive such positive feedback from my wonderful friends.
Until next time, happy stitching.

Halloween Tin

For the HOE Halloween exchange I had to send to Jayne. Going back a few months I was lucky to receive from Jayne in the HOE Summer House exchange and she made me a beautiful needle book, so I came up with something extra special for her as a big thank you too. I stitched Lizzie Kate's Halloween Flip It and made a tin finish, inside I had some pumpkin fabric and orange ribbon for the scissor holder and the back of the lid I fixed on a magnet with some orange spider charms I had. The extras included some orange ribbon, a small pumpkin chart and a cute little spider I found at my craft store, I bought about 3 of them.

What a fun exchange! Cant wait to receive from my partner.

I have been working on some up coming Christmas exchanges, and also finished up my LK exchange piece aswell, another fun one! I have another 2 exchanges to finish up before christmas and then I will have a break till the new year as I also have to stitch up family and friends ornies, I think I have 4 of them to do this year.
Until next time, happy stitching.

One for me, One for Jody...

One for me, is the lovely piece I received from my angel stitcher Angela for the first round at the Lizzie Kate Exchange, my partner never sent, so Angela stepped in and made sure I received something, and it sure is great.
Round 2 is coming along really well, we are quite proud of our little group. Signups for Round 3 will start around Nov 1.

Next up is one for Jody. Jody and I did a personal Halloween exchange and this is what I stitched up for her. Its The Trilogy's "Tricky Treats" and I made it into a long pillow. Gee it was fun to do, although I did forget to take a photo of the whole exchange. I included a Cat's Whiskers Halloween Kitty chart, Bent Creek chart, beaded witch kit, large brooch charms of a moon and star, a cute little spider decoration and I think thats it. Unfortunately Jody doesnt have a blog so I cant steal a photo for you all to see.
Until next time, happy stitching.

Its "Acorns & Owls" by Blue Ribbon Designs, stitched on 32ct linen using DMC and finished as a pinkeep. I also included a small chart by JBW and some floss tags.
I'm soo pleased that you loved it Lindsay, its been a favourite of mine.

An Autumn Blackbird!

Here is the lovely piece I received from Nancy in Round 2 at Blackbird Exchanges. She chose Bluebird's Needles & Pins from With Needle and Thread but changed the colours to a more Autumn palette. She used Tentakulum "Halloween" floss and finished it into a lovely pincushion complete with walnut shell stuffing. Thank you Nancy I really love it, and its my first pincushion with the walnut shells inside and it definately makes for a nicer weight and feel. Now if only I could find some of that stuff around here!
Until next time, happy stitching

Happy Birthday Angela!

My dear friend Angela turned 40 yesterday and my parcel for her arrived just in time. YAY!! Happy Birthday Dear Friend.

I noticed that she had the Brittercup Designs "Stitching Friends" design on her wishlist for a while, so I managed to grab the pattern and stitch her the main design as a special birthday surprise. As we both enjoy flatfold finishes that was my finish choice for this one. I loved how it came together and I know Angela will give it a good home. My second stitchy gift was a bourse, I knew Angela didn't have one and this was my first attempt. I also decided to try my hand at designing a pattern for her and so this little design is my own doing, I just got help for the wording with an alphabet book I had, but the rest was all free handed. I was quite pleased with the outcome of this one too.

Through the year I gathered some extras together and included them in her parcel, a magnet, key ring, sticky note pads, The Cats Whiskers chart "Ned Kelly Kitty" with the required Dinky Dye threads, another kitty chart I found at my LNS and a wooden bookmark with tin bird emblem, you can see the photo of the extras on Angela's blog, because I forgot to take a picture myself. Duh!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday Angela, all the best and happy stitching.

Autumn

Over at the Exchange Heaven group I joined in the Autumn/Halloween exchange, I picked out Autumn and this is the little pinkeep that I received from Sharon (Shebafudge). Sharon says this is her first try at finishing a pinkeep, and I think she did really well. Sharon also included some lovely leaf buttons for me.

Until next time, happy stitching

River Fish RR

I received my round robin back this week from Suzanne. She offered to stitch some remaining fish for me when it was recently returned incomplete. Thats what I love about the stitching community in blogland, you are all soo wonderful, helpful and friendly people. Thanks soo much Suzanne, I am very grateful for your help.

Well I have been stitching inbetween the dust settling on our latest house renovation. I now have my new kitchen installed, we only have to complete the splashback tiling and then paint the walls, but I now have new cupboards, benchtop, sink, tap, stove top and the best thing of all **a dishwasher** YAY!!! I'm soo excited, can you tell?

I took a before photo and when we get the tiling done I will take a new photo and post for you all to see. Then I think we will have a rest from all the dust and hard work for a little while before we start on something else. We still have the laundry to do with new cupboards (havent got any at the moment) and a new trough, and our bedroom needs new carpet and decorating, so we are just working through room by room for now. Save up money, get one done! Its all fun and games!

Until next time, happy stitching.

YLPS Round 3 & Lounge Makeover

Lucky me receiving two PS exchanges in one week, cant complain about that!
Well here is my round 3 piece from Donna, she stitched me this cute Santa and made him into a hanging ornie for my tree, its the perfect size too.

As promised here are some photos of my new lounge room. We are still deciding on changing the placement of the tv cabinet as it is quite close to the lounges and because the tv is larger it makes a huge difference. Our thoughts are to put it against the back wall, move the heater over to the right hand corner, pull the 3 seater lounge up the longer wall more and take one single away into the family room, and the other single will go where the tv cabinet is now, this way will give us more floor space and have us sitting further back from the tv to save our eyes. We just have to get some longer cords for our Foxtel connection before we can do this though. Hope that made sense!! Its just not a huge room, and with the furniture being bulky it doesnt help trying to make the room look spacious. By the way, can you tell which one my stitching chair is? hehe

Until next time, happy stitching

YLPS Round 2

Here is the lovely piece I have just received from Becky for Round 2. There was a little hiccup and I didn't receive for this round, so Becky became my angel stitcher. The design is Pumpkin Patch on 32ct linen and stitched with DMC and she made it into a lovely pinkeep.
Thank you Becky, I adore it, and it was well worth the wait!
Until next time, happy stitching

She Sells Wee Shells

My HOE By The Sea exchange has arrived at Michelle's place. I chose to stitch the Heart In Hand design "Wee Seashore", stitched it on ice blue 28ct evenweave and finished it off as a pillow. I had to hunt high and low for the little pink seashell button, every one of the local craft stores I went into had no sea themed buttons, so I was lucky to spot this one in a quilting shop as it was the only one they had. I included a cut of fabric, some dmc, blending filament and two other small buttons.
I really enjoyed stitching it, and the whole pillow vision was in my head when I signed up for the exchange, so I'm soo pleased it all worked out.

For those of you who asked about photos of my lounge room, I promise to take some during the next week, as my new kitchen is getting installed next Friday and I want to take some before and after shots of that too. We are still trying to work out furniture placement in the lounge, because we now have a slightly larger tv, the unit it sits on is a little higher than we would like and may have to buy a new low line unit instead. Its all happening for us at the moment, but we have waited 3 years to get this all saved up for and its definately exciting, its just that I have to deal with my family room looking like a storage area for a while yet, especially since the kitchen cupboards arrived and are piled in one corner.

Well now its onto some Halloween stitching for some upcoming exchanges.
Until next time, happy stitching

How Lucky Am I!

Look at this beautiful exchange I received from Pam for the HOE By The Sea exchange. Its absolutely wonderful. The bourse is just beautiful with a gorgeous fabric used on the outside, blue/green netting over a wavy pattern, the design is stitched on 32ct Coastal by Picture This Plus and the design is a combination of one from Imaginating and one from Better Homes and Gardens. Pam then put in the words Lisa - By The Sea. It is soo well thought out and rather unique. Also Pam read that I love hedgehogs, so she found me this gorgeous Just Nan pin with a cute little hedgie on top, he will make a great addition to my collection. And she also included some lovely Gentle Art floss.

Thank you soo much Pam, I really love it.
Until next time, happy stitching
